Just came across this album by this jazz duo - JZ8. Their debut album certainly is worth listening to especially during those relaxing late nights. All the numbers from the album is a cover of other artistes' song but with a twist of club jazz. Certainly worth recommending to you guys.

Well, here goes. Finally, the challenge has been issued by the Opposition Leader today to the head of the ruling regime. Read Malaysiakini report here. The ball now is back in the ruling regime's court right now. We live in an interesting time right now in Malaysia. Six months after the political tsunami, it all boils down to this one - Western style Draw Gun or should I say Russian Roulette (since either one of them will be committing political harakiri)?

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 18 SEPTEMBER 2008

Today Pakatan Rakyat leaders have submitted a letter to the Prime Minister requesting him to call an emergency session of Parliament to deliberate a motion of censure against the leadership of YAB Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi no later than Tuesday 23 September 2008.

This is in accordance with Order 11(3) of the Standing Orders of Parliament and warrants an immediate response given the gravity of today’s political impasse. A delay in his response would be interpreted as nothing short of a further sabotage of the democratic process and abuse of Executive Power.

The Prime Minister’s haggling on the syntax of our first letter is puerile at best. The intent of our meeting as described in that letter was clearly to discuss the future course of the nation’s leadership – though in deference to his position and in accordance with acceptable norms we remain considerate and polite in our approach.

I find the Prime Minister’s comment about me in his press conference yesterday to be reckless and irresponsible in light of the disastrous outcome of last Friday’s ISA raids.

He has conflated what is essentially an issue of democracy, freedom and the rule of law with national security. The use of the ISA to harass and detain duly elected political opponents is a grave transgression of the law and its continued use would further erode confidence in the current government and exacerbate political instability.

As the incumbent Prime Minister actively holding office and exercising all Executive powers, and as the outgoing Finance Minister, we hold him fully accountable for the current political turmoil and mismanagement of the nation’s economy. His accusation that I have had an adverse impact on the nation’s economy is entirely without basis.

I have met with the key fund managers in the region, representing over USD 1 trillion in assets, and on multiple occasions they were unanimously in support of comprehensive reforms in Malaysia including judicial independence, a free media, a more professional police force and anti-corruption agency, investor friendly laws and assurances on the non-interference of politicians in the governance of Bank Negara. These are policies Pakatan Rakyat has promised to implement– and initiatives that the current administration has done virtually nothing to advance since March 8th.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — Deputy Rural Development Minister Tan Sri Joseph Kurup has lost his Pensiangan parliamentary seat after the High Court declared his win in the March 8 general election null and void.
The Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah president had won unopposed after PKR candidate Danny Andipai's nomination was rejected on the Feb 24 nomination day.
Kurup has asked his lawyers to file a stay of execution pending an appeal.
Kota Kinabalu High Court judge Justice David Wong Dak Wah ruled that returning officer Bubudan OT Majalu's decision was invalid.
Andipai had arrived on nomination day and paid his RM15,000 deposit at about 9.35am and waited for his turn to be called to submit his nomination papers. But after the 10am deadline, he had still not been called.
Despite conferring with higher-ups in the Election Commission who directed him to accept the papers, Bubudan still rejected Andipai's nomination.
Wong also ruled that the objections against Andipai's nomination forms for being improper and unsigned were invalid.
Sabah PKR chief Ansari Abdullah, who was Andipai's legal counsel, said that the judgment was "water tight" and saw little grounds for appeal but they were prepared.
"One down, 29 more to go," he said in reference to the 30 seats required by Pakatan Rakyat to overthrow the Barisan Nasional government.
However, it is impossible for a Pensiangan by-election to be called before opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Sept 16 deadline as Kurup has 14 days to file an appeal in the Federal Court.
Kurup was not in court but will confer with his legal counsel on the court's judgment to see if an appeal would stand in court. He said he was ready and confident for a by-election.
Bernama adds that Kurup is no longer a deputy minister following the high court ruling. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said in Putrajaya a deputy minister must come from among members of parliament.However, Kurup can be reappointed as a deputy minister if he is reelected, Najib told reporters after chairing the Permata Negara Council meeting. Najib said BN would appeal against the decision and at the same time, prepare for a by-election.
The Star reports that Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman said the appeals court would have to dispose of the case within six months from the date of appeal.

Well, it looks like Pensiangan will be the "Coming Soon" next after Permatang Pauh.

So far in the 308 political tsunami, we has seen it inflict a near fatal damage to the ruling party in West Malaysia. In Permatang Pauh By-election, we have seen that it still keep its devastating momentum. It would be interesting to note that the Persiangan by-election would be unique as its own if the court rejects the appeal.

If Permatang Pauh is about continuing the 308 tsunami and getting Anwar in to lead the charge, then Pensiangan would be about whether the tsunami has crossed the South China Sea to East Malaysia. The 308 tsunami has wreak its damage mainly in West Malaysia previously while leaving East Malaysia unscathed. It shall be interesting to see whether this wave of change has arrived in Sabah or Sarawak this time around.

Malaysia Day

It seems that September 16, finally, would be granted its recognition and place in Malaysia as Pakatan states moots the idea of granting it a public holiday on that date. Read Malaysiakini report here.

Federation of Malaya was granted its independence on 31st August 1957 whereas, Federation of Malaya together with Sabah & Sarawak agrees to be one on 16th September 1963 and were known as Malaysia since.

Isn't it time that we as Malaysians (in Peninsular States, Sabah and Sarawak) celebrate the significant date in common together?
